Samsung has unveiled its latest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G, staying true to their schedule and following up on the success of the 2023 models.

One of the most striking similarities between the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 is their shared foundation: a vibrant 6.6-inch 1080x2340px Super AMOLED display boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, both devices pack a robust 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and feature Samsung's newly introduced Key Island design language. However, they differ in construction material, with the Galaxy A55 sporting a metal frame compared to the Galaxy A35's plastic build.

The Exynos 1480 SoC, which houses an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU, powers the Galaxy A55 5G's internal components. It offers variants with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage and 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. However, like its predecessor, the Galaxy A54, the Galaxy A35 makes do with the outdated Exynos 1380 processor. It still uses a 5nm design, though, thus performance is effective. There are two RAM and storage settings available for the Galaxy A35: 128 GB and 256 GB.

Camera-wise, the Galaxy A55 boasts a 32MP f/2.2 front-facing camera, complemented by a versatile rear setup consisting of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. In comparison, the Galaxy A35 features a 13MP f/2.2 front camera and a rear setup comprising a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens.

Notably, the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 debut the Samsung Knox Vault on the A series, providing a hardware-based secure execution environment separate from the processor and memory. This feature ensures enhanced protection for critical data, such as lock screen credentials. Additionally, both devices come equipped with Samsung's standalone Knox and offer the opt-in Auto Blocker feature to prevent suspicious app installations and protect against malware.

For the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, Samsung promises five years of security patches and four years of major OS updates—an amazing promise for a mid-range handset.
