MediaTek Dimensity 8250 With AI Processing, 320MP, 5G Integration Launched
The MediaTek Dimensity 8250 sports four Cortex-A78 cores
MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 8250, a cutting-edge chipset designed for premium mid-range smartphones. This new SoC is a successor to the Dimensity 8200, offering significant improvements, particularly in AI performance. Built on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication technology, the Dimensity 8250 integrates a 5G modem and is equipped with advanced image processing capabilities.The Dimensity 8250 was launched less than a week after the tech giant unveiled its flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset.
The Dimensity 8250 is an octa-core processor with a configuration that includes a single Cortex-A78 core running at 3.1GHz, three additional Cortex-A78 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores. This setup is complemented by a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, which supports LPDDR5 RAM up to 6400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring swift and responsive performance across applications.
When it comes to camera, the chipset can support primary camera sensors up to an impressive 320-megapixel. It also facilitates a triple rear camera setup, utilizing AI to enhance image quality, reduce noise, and provide up to 2X lossless zoom. For video shooters, the Dimensity 8250 enables recording in 4K resolution at 60fps, with 1080p at 60fps also available, featuring anti-shake electronic image stabilization (EIS).
The AI capabilities of the Dimensity 8250 are noteworthy, with a dedicated AI processing unit that maximizes efficiency for AI tasks and fusion processing. MediaTek claims the chipset has shown “excellent” performance in the ETHZ benchmark, indicating its prowess in handling power-intensive and thermally constrained scenarios effectively.
Lastly, the Dimensity 8250 also excels in display and connectivity features. It supports high-refresh-rate displays, with capabilities of up to 120Hz at WQHD+ resolution or 180Hz at Full HD+ resolution. For a perfect visual experience, it includes HDR10+ video processing and AI SDR-to-HDR video playback. The chipset is equipped with Smart BluLight Defender and 4K AV1 media decoding to enhance media usage.
Connectivity is vast, featuring a fully integrated 5G modem with the latest 3GPP Release-16 standard technology and 3CC carrier aggregation. This amplifies sub-6GHz performance, making it more effective than ever. Additionally, the chipset supports tri-band Wi-Fi 6E for fast wireless networking and 2x2 antenna technology for improved performance and connection reliability. The MediaTek 5G UltraSave 2.0 technology ensures efficient power usage, while Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth LE Audio technology with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio provide high-quality audio streaming and connectivity.
