Google Calendar to Drop Support for Older Android Devices
Google stated earlier this month that Android handsets running Android 7 and below will only be supported through Chrome version 119.
Both Chrome for Android and Chrome for desktop were impacted by the news. Chrome 120 thus does not support Android Nougat or any other version of the operating system. The business has now decided to apply the same principle to Google Calendar, a widely used program that millions of users use to plan their daily schedules. With these, users may schedule meetings, take notes, and arrange events.

The discontinuation of support for earlier Android versions is most likely due to security concerns. Given that data theft and hacking are more common with earlier Android versions, Google wants to make sure its users are protected.
A new flag named "UnsupportedOperatingSystem__enabled" has been added to the most recent version of the Google Calendar app (v2023.46.0-581792699-release). This flag is intended to notify users who are using an unsupported operating system.
This mark specifically tells users that their device has to be upgraded to Android 8 (Oreo) or above to continue using Google Calendar.
Furthermore, more current releases of the software bring a tonne of new features and improvements that were not accessible on prior versions of Android. As a consequence, Google is advising users to update to the most recent version of Android on their devices.
