Exynos 2400 Matches Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Real Gaming

Despite the Exynos 2400 falling slightly behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in synthetic benchmark tests, their real-world gaming performance appears to be a close match. NL Tech conducted tests comparing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Exynos 2400-equipped Galaxy S24+, focusing on popular Android games to assess any noticeable distinctions.

Surprisingly, both devices delivered similar results in Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, and Fortnite. Genshin Impact maintained around 60fps on both chips, PUBG Mobile achieved a stable 90fps at Smooth graphics settings, and Fortnite consistently hovered around 90fps, occasionally dropping to 70fps during combat.

Noteworthy differences emerged in two games, namely Call of Duty: Mobile and War Thunder. In Call of Duty, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 maintained a consistent 120fps, while the Exynos 2400 seemed capped at 60fps. Conversely, in War Thunder, the Exynos 2400 outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by maintaining approximately 100fps, whereas the Snapdragon struggled, dropping to 40fps. Notably, War Thunder is a ray tracing-enabled game, suggesting that the Exynos' Xclipse 940 GPU excels in handling ray tracing graphics.

Several caveats should be considered: the tests were conducted on pre-production units, and the comparison involves two different phone models. However, it's worth noting that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to boast a superior cooling solution with a larger heat sink. Nevertheless, there could be additional factors influencing these results. A comparison between the Exynos-powered Galaxy S24+ and its Snapdragon counterpart could provide further insights.
