Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Arrives with Significant Performance Boost: 15% Faster CPU and 50% More Powerful GPU
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is Qualcomm's most recent midrange 7series processor for mobile smartphones. The new chip falls between the two previously stated SoCs, despite the name suggesting that it replaces the SD 7+ Gen 2 or SD 7s Gen 2. With a 1+3+4 CPU package, SD 7 Gen 3 is manufactured using TSMC's 4nm manufacturing technology. A prime core clocked at 2.63GHz, three performance cores at 2.4 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz are all included in the Kryo CPU.
Qualcomm reports that the Adreno GPU is 50% quicker, and the CPU performance is 15% better than the previous year's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. According to Qualcomm's testing, the 7 Gen 3 chip is also claimed to provide 20% power savings.
The SD 7 Gen 3's Qualcomm Hexagon NPU is expected to provide 60% quicker AI performance per watt than the SD 7 Gen 1's. OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs are supported by the Adreno GPU.
Additionally, the new Qualcomm processor supports FHD+ resolution at 168Hz or screens with up to 4K resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate. A Qualcomm Spectra ISP, capable of handling 200MP primary camera modules and recording 4K HDR video at 60Hz, is part of its configuration.
The Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF System, which is combined with the SD 7 Gen 3, guarantees up to 5 Gbps download rates via mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands. Additionally, the area of connection offers compatibility with Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E standards.
Later this month, the first smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 are anticipated to go on sale. Honor and Vivo are among the major OEMs tipped to lead the way with the new CPU.
